Why go?

The Reformation Wall is Geneva's great history lesson, carved in stone. In the centre stand four five-metre statues: William Farel, John Calvin, Theodore Beza and John Knox, under the city's motto, Post Tenebras Lux.

It was built in the early 20th century for the 400th anniversary of Calvin's birth. Its Google rating of 4.5 from more than 3,500 reviews shows it moves far more than history buffs.

Good to know

The wall runs along the former moat of the ramparts, at the far end of the Parc des Bastions. Access is free, day and night. In winter, the Bastions ice rink sets up a few steps away.

Our advice

Keep it for the end of your Old Town walk, coming down from Place du Bourg-de-Four via the Treille. The world's longest bench, on the Promenade de la Treille, is just above.
